Editorial Guidelines
These are the rules we follow so that what you see on OutdoorPricer is accurate and useful.
Prices
- Prices come from the stores’ own product feeds and are checked every day. Each price shows when it was last checked.
- A crossed-out price is the store’s own reference price, not a price we saw ourselves. Our “Hot deals” list and the flame next to a price mean a store-listed discount of 10% or more against that reference price.
- We say a price dropped only when our own daily price checks show it fell, and we call it the “lowest we have recorded” only for the period we have tracked, which is stated on the product page.
- We only call a price the “lowest” when we compare more than one store. Shipping is shown when the store tells us; otherwise we say “shipping at checkout”.
- Products whose images or prices we cannot load are hidden until they work again.
Coupons
- Coupons come from stores through their affiliate networks, or from visitors after we check them at the store.
- Every coupon shows its end date and the conditions the store gives. Ended coupons are removed from lists automatically; their pages say clearly that they ended.
- We do not use fake “verified” labels, usage counters, ratings or countdown timers. “Worked for N shoppers” only appears when real visitors told us so.
- A coupon reported as not working is reviewed; one report does not delete it.
Product information and tools
- Specifications come from the store. We only use numbers that are written explicitly (for example capacity in Wh) and never guess missing values.
- Calculators use published rules of thumb and say so. Buying tips are general advice, not claims about specific products.
Independence
Commissions do not decide the order of products or coupons. Read How we make money.
